Stan Mavis is joining the team of Australian Wool Innovation, owner of the Woolmark brand, tasked with promoting the use of Merino wool to manufacturers of sports apparel. He hopes to refute misconceptions that Merino wool is uncomfortable or hard to clean. Mavis was a co-founder of Pearl Izumi in the 1980s, and moved on to Asics in 2000 to be vice president for apparel and accessories. He joined Brooks Sports in 2002 as senior vice president and was part of the management team that sold the company to Russell Corporation. Since 2006 he has been with Sugoi Performance Apparel.
