Yesterday, Leki confirmed that the company will remain definitely in the ownership of the Lenhart family after the tragic and untimely death of its owner and managing director, Klaus Lenhart. He died in an air crash on April 30. After some rumors on a possible sale came up, the management made clear that it would be led and owned by Lenhart's wife Waltraud, who can rely on an extremely experienced team led by Gerald Kienbacher (chief of production, in the company since 1976), Bernd Mayer (head of sales, at Leki for 24 years) and Heidi Kreusel, marketing director who joined the pole maker more than 13 years ago. Lenhart's son Markus has been working in the R&D department and shall get extended responsibilities in the near future.
