Katadyn North America, the U.S.-based subsidiary of the Swiss maker of water purification solutions, has acquired the assets of TyRy Inc., a privately held manufacturer of freeze-dried and dehydrated instant food. TyRy markets the brands Natural High, Richmoor, AlpineAir Foods and Gourmet Reserves. The acquired company will keep its facilities in Minneapolis and Sacramento, but will be renamed Katadyn North America Foods LLC. Katadyn has been marketing dehydrated food in Europe under the brand Trek'n Eat since it acquired, a few years ago, the assets of Trekking-Mahlzeiten, a German manufacturer of food for outdoor purposes. The move in North America now enables the group to sell that type of product in North America as well.
