As we have previously reported, the European Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry, Fesi, has become very active in its lobbying efforts in Brussels. A few days ago, it held a couple of important meetings with key personalities of the European Commission and the European Parliament that should lead to new action on various fronts. After a meeting last Jan. 21 with Antonio Tajani, vice president of the Commission, and Androulla Vassiliou, European commissioner for education, culture, multilingualism and youth, Tajani, who is also developing the industrial policy of the US as commissioner for industry, asked Bruno Alves, and the secretary general of Fesi, Alberto Bichi, to come up with an action plan by next September after hearing some hard facts about the sport sector (more in Sporting Goods Intelligence Europe).
