Freewaters, the California-based maker of beach style shoes and sandals, will partner with Therm-a-Rest and Cascade Designs to provide real-world lessons on water science and purification for high school students in Ventura County, California, starting in May. Sales of Freewaters shoes featuring Therm-a-Rest insoles will support the project. Volunteers will visit classrooms and teach children how to use Cascade Designs' SE200 Smart Electrochlorinator water purifier for emergencies and disaster relief. If this pilot is successful, the program has the potential to be replicated in other school districts across the U.S.
