Insect Shield Repellent Technology, ExOfficio and Sunshell Manufacturing have formed a partnership to provide insect protective uniforms to the staff of World Concern and Medical Teams International working in malaria-risk areas across the globe. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 219 million cases of malaria occurred worldwide and 660,000 people died in 2010. The people involved in health care are especially at risk for malaria, dengue fever and other life-threatening insect-borne diseases. As part of the partnership, Insect Shield will provide treatment for the uniforms with its repellent technology. ExOfficio, known for its performance apparel for the traveler, will offer the product design and fabric, while Sunshell Manufacturing will cover the sewing costs. This partnership will result in more than 2,000 uniforms for World Concern and Medical Teams International to wear in the field while carrying on their humanitarian work.
