On the occasion of the second SportBusinessNetworkDay in Lenzburg, the two Swiss sporting goods associations, ASMAS (Association of Swiss Sporting Goods Retailers) and SPAF (Association of Swiss Sporting Goods Suppliers), held their general meetings. Markus Wolf was elected as the new president of SPAF as Guido Mätzler retired after 30 years in this role. Wolf’s previous positions include managing director of Swiss Ski. He is currently chief executive of Weisse Arena Group in Laax, an integrated service company in the tourism and leisure industry responsible for marketing the Flims Laax Falera destination. Several major challenges await the new president, including, of course, the general impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the specialist sports retail trade, but also the continuing trend toward equipment rentals.
