Turkish government agencies secured 2,500 faked Jack Wolfskin products in Istanbul, Antalya and Mugla during a large-scale search. After the suspect was prosecuted, Jack Wolfskin enforced civil claims at a local court in Istanbul. Next to Jack Wolfskin, some other trademark owners reacted with civil claims, as copies of other brand were also found. The action is initially dependent on the criminal court in Istanbul, as the court anticipates a case of organized criminality. The civil claim addresses sourcing, storage and the sale of fakes. Jack Wolfskin hopes for compensation and elimination of the products but also aims to send a message to the whole market, as fakes often carry a health risk for the consumer.
