Lenzing has reported an increase in revenues of 1.8 percent to €560 million in the first quarter of 2019, as compared to the same period of the previous year, attributing it mainly to a successful diversification of its product line. The sale of premium fibers accounted for 47.3 percent of total sales in the quarter, up from 42.1 percent at the end of the first quarter of 2018. However, the company's net results for the period were down by 14.5 percent to a total of €42.8 million. At the company's production facility in Heiligenkreuz, Austria, a fire halted the production of Lyocell for several weeks in February, but things have since returned to normal. The cost of the damage and the interruption in the production process are covered by insurance. Lenzing is currently building a new Tencel plant in Thailand and a fiber pulp mill in Brazil. Despite a difficult market environment, Lenzing expects its net results for the full year to be stable as compared to 2018.
