McTrek, the German outdoor retailer, reports a 13 percent sales increase to €47.2 million in 2015 for its chain, which consists of 35 physical stores and an online shop. Ulrich Dausien, the former Jack Wolfskin executive who founded McTrek in 1995, attributes the sales increase to a trading-up process for the product range, indicating that his company is no longer offering surplus merchandise from previous season. However, the unseasonable weather conditions led to a drop in the gross margin to 46.5 percent. No new stores were opened last year, but two were renovated and two more will be added in 2016.
