OluKai has announced a strategic investment in Melin, a lifestyle headwear brand based in Southern California. The move is part of OluKai's plan to establish itself as an incubator for quality-driven consumer product brands. Melin, which was founded by longtime friends Brian McDonell and Corey Roth in 2013, derives its name from the word “milliner,” a term for a hat maker. The brand's products blend luxury fashion, headwear and the Southern Californian boardsport culture. The company claims it utilizes materials such as Italian cashmere by Loro Piana, Egyptian cotton, titanium metal trims and even real 8-point diamonds. Melin's fan base includes U.S. sports celebrities. McDonell and Roth will reportedly remain at the helm of the brand.
