Calzados Fal, the Spanish owner of the outdoor footwear brand Chiruca, has made a complete overhaul of its internal testing laboratory. Tripled in area, the facility is now properly set up to test both raw materials and finished products against international standards. With its permanent staff of two technicians, the lab tests leather for its traction, flexion, impermeability, capillarity and elasticity; laces for their tensile strength; textiles for their resistance to tearing; and soles for their abrasion, flexion, and absorption and elimination of water. For finished footwear, the lab tests the durability of the joint between the upper and the sole.
