Idaho's legislature passed a resolution a few days ago inviting Outdoor Retailer to stage its biannual trade shows in the state. As reported, OR's present contract with Salt Lake City expires in 2016. Las Vegas and Denver have been mentioned as alternative venues for the growing American fair. Stressing that at least 74 percent of Idaho's population participate in outdoor recreation activities and that the state has more rivers and wilderness areas than any of the lower 48 states, Idaho's Senate and House of Representatives noted that hosting OR would bring $40 million a year to the state's economy. The resolution said nothing about the fairgrounds or the hotel facilities that Idaho would be offering - a crucial point in the contest for the future venue of the show.
