In the aftermath of the death of a mountaineer in August, possibly caused by quality problems with his via ferrata set, and the recall actions undertaken by various manufacturers of such products, Mammut has now decided to take four sets out of the market. The recall affects the product “Tec Step” in the versions “Bionic,” “Classic,” “Brenta Classic” and “Bionic Turn.” Mammut emphasizes that the products are safe. Additional testing, however, showed that a slightly increased safety risk cannot be totally excluded if the sets are intensely used over several seasons.
