Mammut is asking owners of a Mammut/Snowpulse avalanche airbag as a precaution to re-equip the release units of the backpacks with a special plastic clip. The point of possible concern is the connection between the release mechanism and the Venturi valve in avalanche airbags produced for the winter seasons from 2011/12 up to and including that of 2013/14. Last spring, close inspections called for by Mammut showed that the screwed connection between the release unit and the Venturi nozzle might come loose in rare cases of very intense use of the airbag. A specially developed Venturi clip prevents this entirely. The clip and installation instructions can be requested free of charge at www.mammut.ch/venturi-clip.
