Polartec has announced that Westcomb, Outdoor Research, Kitsbow and Velocio will be the first brands to offer garments featuring its Delta cooling platform. Polartec Delta is said to utilize a sophisticated construction as opposed to chemical additives. The technology is based on a mechanical wicking construction which uses hydrophobic and hydrophilic yarns to prolong the skin's natural evaporative cooling response. While athletes traditionally turn to cotton or polyester garments in warmer climates, which end up chafing or wicking away their sweat causing them to overheat, Polartec Delta has been conceived so as to carry sweat and hold it next to skin where it most closely replicates the body's natural cooling response. Polartec will be showing Delta at the upcoming Summer Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 3-6, at Booth #38041.
