The German climbing material specialist Skylotec has discovered a missing structural seam on a Skylotec SAM 2.0 harness during a routine inspection. After a thorough inspection of all harness inventories, no other harnesses with this defect pattern could be identified, but the manufacturer has published a precautionary inspection notice.

Since the absence of a structural seam would be very obvious and can be easily recognized by the user, it is not necessary to return the harnesses. End consumers, retailers, professional users and rental stations are therefore requested to visually inspect their SAM 2.0 climbing harnesses manufactured between January and April 2020 at their main structural seams.

Visual instructions for the inspection are given on Skylotec’s website www.skylotec.com. You will also find information on how to proceed in case a defect is detected.
