Ortovox has issued a precautionary safety notice regarding Ortovox “Avabag Cartridge Carbon” models from one production series with dark blue adapters and a quality inspection date between March 22, 2018 and Sep. 30, 2019. The cartridges can lose pressure, which could, under unfavorable conditions, impair the activation force of the Avabag airbag system. Cartridges that are not affected can continue to be used without any concern. Affected cartridges can be replaced at a specialist dealer.
All other cartridge adapters (light blue and silver) are from a different production series and unaffected. Loss of pressure can be reliably identified as part of the weight check that is essential before any use of the system.
To eliminate any risk, Ortovox emphasizes that it is essential to check the weight of the Avabag carbon cartridge before every use of the Avabag airbag backpack.
