Tecnica has introduced Origin, a high-performance running shoe that the company has described as the first trail running shoe with a customizable fit. A small selection of 130 retailers will launch the product in mid-July in 12 European countries, North America, China and Japan, while the full retail launch at outdoor and run specialty retailers is scheduled for spring 2020. The shoe features a design approach that is new to the running shoe category, using first the anatomy of the wearer and then a proprietary in-store thermo-molding process. The resulting shoe provides all trail runners with the same intended level of performance and ideal fit, regardless of gender or body characteristics, according to Tecnica. The new shoe is best suited for short and mid-distance runs, and up to ultra-distance for very trained athletes. Tecnica previously launched two other higher-cut mountaineering boots with a similar technology, Forge and Plasma, which are now sold at about 900 points of sale around the world.
