Wild Country, the British brand of climbing equipment, voluntarily recalls one of its ascending devices, “Ropeman 3.” While the product meets the requirements of the EN567 standard for mountain equipment and ropes, it may slip under certain circumstances when initially loaded instead of locking on the rope as it is supposed to do. The slippage may occur if the rope is under significant tension and the cam of the product has not been specifically set in position on the rope by the user. When the device is properly loaded, Ropeman 3 will work as safely as expected. Wild Country recognizes, however, that under special conditions such as extreme weather, fatigue or during the course of an accident, it may be possible that Ropeman 3 cannot be fully relied upon to meet the expectations of the user. The models “Ropeman 1 and 2” are not affected by the recall.
