Aigle is planning to open a flagship store in March on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris, making a strong new statement in the fashion-oriented outdoor lifestyle segment and reinforcing its international image. The location is one of the most expensive ones in the world, although the retailers on the street ranked 16th in terms of service on a global scale in a recent survey of the 30 major shopping streets by a group of mystery shoppers. Aigle is also reportedly looking at the Italian market. The French company already has 73 own and franchised single-brand stores in France and 17 others in Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Portugal, plus 66 in Japan and almost 120 China and other parts of Asia. It had a turnover of about €275 million last year. Aigle is a property of Maus Frères, which also owns Gant, Lacoste, Manor Group and its Athleticum chain of sporting goods stores in Switzerland.
