Mountain Hardwear, a subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear based in Richmond, California, has launched a program in the U.S. to support authorized specialty dealers who have closed or are under severely reduced operations. Participating retailers will have the opportunity to receive a 40 percent commission on any transactions they generate leads for on the brand’s website. The program offers immediate near-term relief for retailers by providing a substantial commission for confirmed transactions, as well as doorstep delivery to consumers. Participating retailers will be paid in the form of a check, not a credit, for confirmed transactions, and this will be available for retailers from now through June 30, or as long as the retailer is closed. Troy Sicotte, VP of sales at Mountain Hardwear, said that this might be a small but important gesture his compaby can make, inspired by the U.S. industry’s #saveyourlocalgearshop movement.
