Stubai, the Austrian brand of mountaineering equipment, has drawn criticism for a much-contested sales agreement with a supermarket chain in South Tyrol for a period of eight weeks between June and August of this year. MPreis, which operates about 200 stores in Austria and Northern Italy, has installed a stand-up display in them, offering gloves, a via ferrata set, carabiners, ice picks, helmets and a daypack by Stubai. Customers of MPreis can use loyalty points to reduce the price for the Stubai products on display in the store.
