Samsonite International has completed the acquisition of Rolling Luggage, an airport retailer of branded luggage and travel products, as part of its ongoing strategy to enhance its global multi-brand retail platform. Samsonite has acquired the U.K.-based retailer from the capital-owned Tie Rack Retail Group for a cash consideration £15.75 million (€22.1m-$23.3m). Rolling Luggage operates 36 airport retail locations across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, including such top locations as London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Sydney airports. Previously part of the Tie Rack Retail Group, Rolling Luggage became a stand-alone business in April 2014, following the completion of an internal restructuring. Rolling Luggage posted sales of £26.7 million (€37.5m-$39.5m) for the year ended Jan. 31, 2015, representing a 11.3 percent increase from the previous year. Along with the group's core brand, Samsonite, the company is engaged in the design, manufacture and distribution of luggage under other famous brand names like American Tourister, High Sierra, Hartmann, Gregory, Speck and Lipault, as well as other owned and licensed brand names (see the article on page 3).
