Tech Rock, a Spanish company specialized in climbing products, which already owns Fixe, Faders and Alien Cams, has announced the acquisition at an undisclosed price of Roca Cordes de Muntanya, a brand of ropes and climbing equipment that went out of business at the end of last year. Tech Rock has bought the Roca brand name as well as its inventories and its production unit. The buyer expects that Roca will neatly complement its sales, since it did not previously have any brand focusing on ropes. The customer lists of Tech Rock and Roca are very similar, but Tech Rock intends to expand Roca's sales network in Spain as well as in export markets. Tech Rock, based in Sant Quirze de Besora, said that it was first interested in acquiring the Roca brand, but it was eventually persuaded to buy and retain production in Spain. Tech Rock added that Roca, which is based in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda and started production as far back as 1891, formed an important part of the Spanish mountaineering community. Toni Roca, former manager of Roca, has been placed in charge of production for the brand.
