The European Outdoor Group estimates at this stage that the European outdoor industry's total wholesale value increased by between 0.5 to 3 percent in 2013 as compared to the previous year. According to the market research report that it published last October, the industry recorded a wholesale value of €4.9 billion in Europe in 2012, while the retail value exceeded €10 billion. The EOG expects 5 to 10 new brands to join its market research project and provide additional data for 2013. It will present its second market research report during the next OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen. Meanwhile, a quick survey conducted among the 90 participants in its general assembly just before last month's Ispo Munich fair showed that 20 percent of them felt that their business had been slightly better than expected in 2013. Another 20 percent said it was much better than expected, which just over 30 percent said it was slightly worse than expected.
