The Swiss-based Katadyn Group has acquired the assets of Spectra Watermakers, a company in California that makes desalination systems, based on its proprietary recovery pumps, that are used on the water and on the land. Bill Edinger, who founded the business in 1976, chose to sell it to Katadyn because it has been making mobile desalinators for the marine segment for decades. Katadyn claims world leadership for individual water purification systems and products, with a global market share of more than 50 percent.
