It had long been hoped that the Taichung Bike Week (TBW) international OEM bicycle industry event, already canceled last year due to Covid, could at least take place this year. However, with the worldwide spread of the Delta variant, the nervousness in Taiwan, a country that had so far fought a good Covid-19 defense battle, has increased dramatically. As a result, the scheduled date – Sept. 28 - Oct. 1 – for TBW 2021 could not be met, and the event is postponed to 2022. At the time of writing, no new date for 2022 has been communicated.

The decision comes as no surprise. No one is willing to spend the first two weeks in a specially set up quarantine hotel after entering Taiwan. Depending on where overseas visitors come from, they would also have to return to their home country for quarantine after visiting Taiwan. Therefore, the hotels where TBW was to be held and exhibitors were to be accommodated also pulled the plug. Given the low number of registrations and all sides’ requests, it was decided to postpone this OEM event until next year. More info at www.taichungbikeweek.com.
