VF Corporation has inaugurated a new, environmentally-friendly corporate head office for three brands of its outdoor division – The North Face, JanSport and Lucy – on a 14-acre property in Alameda, California. Accommodating more than 470 employees, the 160,000-square-foot campus comprises a 1,000-sqft. fitness center, an outdoor training area, an in-house bike shop and other facilities. It has a café with organic food options that will also host cooking classes, as well as an organic vegetable garden for its employees. It also features electric vehicle charging stations. Other sustainability features include a combination of photovoltaic solar panels and wind turbines. A state-of-the-art indirect-direct evaporative cooling system will circulate fresh air without using coolants. Located above San Francisco Bay, the site offers dramatic views of the East Bay hills and the San Francisco skyline. VF has already moved Lucy from Portland to another location in Alameda. TNF and JanSport will move there from VF's head office in San Leandro, California.
