A new garment-finishing solution, called Smart Foam, is said to decrease dramatically the need for water by using foam as the agent. Smart Foam has been created by Garmon, the Italian chemicals group, in collaboration with Itaclab and Mactec. The patented technology can be used with any industrial washing machine to create finishes for denim. According to Garmon, the application of chemicals through Smart Foam can save up to 80 percent of the water used in traditional washing.
