Chiruca, the Spanish brand of mountain boots, is one of several companies in Arnedo, the largest town in the province of La Rioja, to coordinate with the local government to set up a production line for masks, gloves, waterproof gowns, reusable gowns, goggles, hand gel and other necessities in the fight against Covid-19. The cooperative network is also working up prototypes for surgical caps as well as masks of different but equally effective materials, with the Health Council of La Rioja ensuring that they meet the right standards. Hundreds of volunteers are also taking part.
