Chiruca received a special label for companies that calculate, reduce and compensate for their carbon footprint. The label is issued by the Spanish ministry of agriculture, food and environment. Chiruca is aiming to reduce its carbon footprint, compensating 50 percent of it through the plantation of a forest of 16 hectares in the municipality of Bergasa, where 6,000 oaks have already been planted. In 2017, Chiruca enriched the biodiversity of the forest by planting some other tree species, such as Rowan trees, oaks or maples and increased the number of trees to a total of 15,000.
