Sole, the Canadian maker of footbeds, has joined One Percent for the Planet, the global network of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet. The members of the network donate one percent of their annual sales directly to approved environmental non-profit bodies. One Percent for the Planet evaluates the track record, credibility and impact of these non-profit organizations, along with verifying the contributions made by its own member companies. To celebrate its new membership, Sole donated 10 percent of each full-priced purchase made on www.yoursole.com on July 31 – the day after it joined One Percent for the Planet - directly to Protect Our Winters. One Percent for the Planet was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the former owner of Blue Ribbon Flies. The network has since grown into a global movement of more than 1,200 member companies in 48 countries. To date, it has given around $130 million to sustainability initiatives.
