Sympatex Technologies has announced plans to introduce its first 100 percent recycled membrane. The Sympatex membrane is free from PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and PFC (perfluorinated compounds), and is made of polyether-ester, which can be recycled. Over the past few years the Munich-based company has been re-using up to 15 percent of the membrane production waste in the production process, which means it has reduced the virgin material input stream by up to 15 percent. The material and the energy savings are generated by a mono-material return of membrane production waste into the production process. The new step in Sympatex' sustainability strategy is a 100 percent recycled membrane for which membrane waste is entirely reprocessed.
