The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) has approved the criteria of a test method for microfiber shredding and released it to its members. Developed by the University of Leeds, it is described as the first thoroughly tested, validated and internationally aligned method for measuring the loss of microfiber material from textiles. Its launch is expected to accelerate and deepen research aimed at reducing microfiber shredding in the fashion, sport, outdoor and home textiles industries. TMC is currently composed of 40 members from these industries, with a combined annual turnover of more than €250 billion.
