Timberland has announced a partnership with Other Half Processing to build a leather supply chain sourced from regenerative ranches. Ranchers and farmers who use regenerative grazing practices in the management of their cattle enable more rest and re-growth of grasses. These practices can lead to better food for livestock and healthier soil while having the potential to reduce carbon emissions – by capturing more carbon in the soil than they emit. Despite its benefits, this type of production is still underrepresented, and the mission of Other Half Processing is to try to change that. During the pilot, Timberland will source traceable hides from regeneratively grazed cattle across the U.S. for select footwear and accessory collections, which are expected to hit the market in autumn 2020.
