VF Corporation has announced that its international headquarters building in Stabio, Switzerland, has achieved Leed Platinum Certification, the highest level of certification in the third-party rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council for buildings, homes and communities. “Leeds” stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. From the Stabio building, which opened three years ago, VF Corp. manages and oversees the company's business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. The building achieved the Leed Platinum Certification as a result of a number of solutions that were adopted in the areas of energy efficiency, human resources and logistics. The building is said to be 41 percent more efficient than a similar size building constructed according to traditional standards. In addition, the facility was built near a railway station, to limit its environmental impact. VF's distribution center in Hackleburg, Alabama was certified Leed Gold in 2014, while the group's Outdoor & Action Sports coalition headquarters in Alameda, California was awarded Leed Platinum certification in 2013.
