The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a Miscellaneous Tariff bill that will end or reduce import duties on ten footwear products for the next three years, including waterproof breathable boots. The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) of the U.S. had lobbied strongly for this measure, which still has to go through the Senate and the White House to become law. Separately, the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has sent a letter to the sponsors of the proposed Outdoor Act in the Senate, asking for its quick enactment to lower duties on outdoor apparel and support research programs in the industry.
