A new German company, Sole Runner, presented a line of innovation of barefoot shoes at this year's OutDoor trade show in Friedrichshafen. Shaped like a glove, but using sturdy materials, the sole is only 1.2-1.5 mm thick. The collection includes only two pieces at the moment. The production of the first collection started in February, and so far 1,000 pairs have been produced. They were almost completely sold to interested retailers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, the U.S. and the Netherlands. Thorsten Ludwig, founder and president of Sole Runner, expects to sell at least 3,000 pairs by the end of this year. The shoes are manufactured in Slovenia. The price range is between €79 and €85 for the end consumer. Before this new venture of his, Ludwig had been distributing a Finnish shoe brand, Feelmax, on the German market, but then the company stopped its shoe production unexpectedly.
