Altra, the producer of ZeroDrop, FootShape and Fit4Her shoes, will be the title sponsor of the Tobacco Road Half Marathon, scheduled – along with the regular Tobacco Road Marathon – for Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Cary, North Carolina. Overhead costs will be limited by the all-volunteer staff. The proceeds, expected to exceed $1 million, will be going entirely to charities, such as the American Red Cross, Hope for the Warriors, JDRF and the Triangle Rails to Trails Conservancy. The organizers are expecting at least 4,000 runners and some 7,000 spectators. The first Tobacco Road Marathon and Half took place on March 21, 2010, and Altra launched its first shoe the following year. The company was acquired by VF Corp. a few months ago.
