La Sportiva has created its own team of ski-touring athletes called “La Sportiva Mountain Attack Team” named after Mountain Attack, a major ski touring race in Austria which usually attracts some 1,000 participants from 15 countries. The next Mountain Attack, the 16th altogether since it came into existance, will be held in the snow sports arena of Saalbach-Hinterglemm on Jan. 17. The Italian mountaineering and winter sports company will support its team with boots, skis, apparel and other gear. Currently the group of ski touring enthusiasts comprises 21 people, both pros and amateurs. La Sportiva would like to see the team grow to some 30 members, particularly to increase the currently small portion of female athletes in the group.
