Russian outdoor goods company Stayer has begun manufacturing medical membrane overalls in cooperation with several other outdoor brands, Tatyana Ivanova, owner of the company said. The company has also got a contract from the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry to manufacture medical masks for the Russian healthcare system, she added. The new contact is not bringing profit to the company – it has only required slight improvement of the capacity utilization ratio, she said. Before the current crisis, Stayer was manufacturing only goods under its own brands, but now the company has to switch to manufacturing goods for other companies.

The Russian outdoor goods industry is generally not doing well this year, and this is associated not only with the retail lockdown introduced in the country to slow down the spread of the Covid-19. The demand for outdoor products in Russia has been negatively affected with the abnormally warm winter with a lack of snow in the European part of the country, according to Ivanova.
