Ortovox is organizing a series of alpine summer courses in the German Alps, Austria and Italy, where participants can learn alpine climbing from scratch. The courses are offered by the Taufkirchen-based company in cooperation with around 30 international mountaineering schools. The prerequisites to apply for participation are the mastery of securing techniques and experience of lead climbing at grade 5. The new courses include training in safety and routines for the participant first solo tour (Basic) and preparation for multi-rope routes on the rock face (Advanced). For the past eight years, Ortovox has been offering hundreds of training courses on safety in mountain sports through its Safety Academy. The new alpine summer courses are an extension of this offer. They can be booked on Ortovox' website.
