Sympatex, the Munich-based maker of high-tech functional materials, will present the Idea Shoe 4.0 at Ispo Munich on Feb. 3-6. At its exhibition stand, the company will be setting up an actual production line – consisting of a plastic shredder, an extruder and a 3D printer – to demonstrate the production value of recycled plastic. The plastic will come from a plogging expedition – plogging combines jogging with litter collection – that Sympatex will organize at Ispo. The plastic will be shredded, extruded, fed into an upper-making printer and bound to a Vibram sole before the public's eyes. Sympatex's Utmospheric seamless lining will make the shoes waterproof.
