Sympatex will start serial production of its thermo-formed waterproof inner shoe Utmospheric in early 2020. The company has completed prototyping with its clients but still has manufacturing slots available for partners looking to enter retail sales with Utmospheric in the winter of 2020/2021. The new facility's production capacity is capped at 500,000 pairs of shoes per year. The production line is expected to be highly automated and can slot into the shoe's final assembly, Sympatex having borrowed automation know-how from the automotive industry. Higher machine costs will be offset by Sympatex's process, which will cut tape, reduce production time and save material to produce a seamless and crease-free inner shoe that matches the shape of a foot precisely and offers high breathability.
