Volcom is replacing Burton as the apparel sponsor of the U.S. Snowboard Team, its coaches and staff included. The California-based boardsports apparel company will be outfitting the snowboard-cross, slopestyle/big air and halfpipe teams – men and women – through the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The deal will cover the World Cup, the World Championship and national contests. The outerwear supplied will include Volcom's patented Zip Tech, which can zip the powder skirt of almost any Volcom jacket into any pair of Volcom pants, and thereby keep snow from penetrating between articles of clothing. The men will receive Infrared Jackets and the women Nya Jackets, all equipped with Volcom's proprietary, triple-layer Thermal Defense System (TDS). Volcom will also supply hoodies, gloves, hats and beanies. The deal coincides with the 20th anniversary of Volcom. The Authentic Brands Group acquired Volcom's intellectual property from Kering in April.
