Camelbak has decided to merge its German distribution for both outdoor and cycle products under the roof of Hermann Hartje KG, the important wholesale trader for the local bike business with branches in Denmark, Austria and the Netherlands. Hartje has been the German distributor of Camelbak for bike-relevant retail channels and now has taken on the distribution into outdoor retail as well. The decision came after the former outdoor distributor, Everest, went belly-up recently. Everest was the successor company to SPS, a family-owned distribution firm that also went into receivership a few years ago. SPS was the longtime distributor of Elan in Germany while it took care of other brands such as Camelbak and Fizan, the Italian pole maker.
