Lowa says it has signed a new long-term agreement with its Chinese partner, BC Sports China in Nanjing, to consolidate and accelerate the strategic internationalization of the brand. Lowa has been present in China since 2005. Thanks to its distribution partner, BC Sports, Lowa has been able to build up a good outdoor-retail network in China over the past 15 years, opening numerous Lowa mono-brand stores as well as brand shops in department stores. Steve Huang, chief executive of BC Sports China, and Matthias Wanner, chief sales officer of Lowa, met in Nanjing for the signing. The ceremony's motto, “A new journey begins,” alluded to Lowa's plan to expand its business into new market segments. BC Sports also distributes Halti, Head, Leki, Alpina, Kjus, Northland, Level and Vauhti in China. Lowa, which is controlled by the Tecnica Group, exports its products to 65 markets worldwide, deriving about half of its total turnover of nearly €200 million from outside its core markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
