The North Face plans to inaugurate its first store in Portugal on Oct. 17 in the presence of João (José Silva Abranches) Garcia, the first Portuguese mountaineer to have reached the summit of Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen in 1999. A year later, after reaching the top of Annapurna, he became the tenth man to climb all the 14 mountain summits above 8,000 meters in the world without oxygen or the help of sherpas. The 70-meter TNF store is located in Aveiro, a seaside city that is also known as the Venice of Portugal.
