Viking Fottoy, the Norwegian producer of Gore-Tex boots and shoes, is looking for suitable distribution in North America after settling trademark disputes with companies in the U.S. and Canada that have been using the Viking brand name for other types of shoes. The U.S. company, Alliance Mercantile, is going to use it only for its safety shoes, while the Canadian firm, Bakers Shoe Co., will only use it for comfort sandals. Meanwhile, Viking has struck a distribution agreement in China with Harbin Sego Sports Multiple Shop, a company that runs about 800 multi-brand and single-brand stores in its region which carry many well-known outdoor brands.
